Middlesex University Mauritius Branch Campus (MUMBC) is pleased to announce the launch of two new scholarship schemes for the September/October 2013 entry:
1 Inaugural scholarship launching the new flagship LLM award
A discount of 15% will be deducted from the final tuition fee payment for all local students registering on the LLM International Business Law programme. The value of award is Rs 36,000.
1.1 Selection criteria for Inaugural LLM Inaugural Scholarship
The minimum criteria to be eligible for consideration for the LLM Inaugural Awards are:
(a) Applicants must be residents of Mauritius and studying for the first time at Middlesex University.
(b) Applicants should have a minimum first degree of 2:2 or above.
2 Excellence Awards
The total value of the 11 Excellence Awards scholarships is Rs 1,087,000, applicable for all programmes currently on offer at MUMBC for the 2013/2014 academic year.
2.1 Selection criteria for Excellence Awards
The minimum criteria to be eligible for consideration for the MUMBC Excellence Awards are:
(a) Students must be residents of Mauritius and studying for the first time at Middlesex University.
(b) A minimum of 2 As at A-Level/HSC or a combined total of at least 240 Universities and Colleges Admission Services (UCAS) points obtained at one and the same sitting.
The table below indicates the relevant UCAS points for each grade achieved at A-Level/HSC.

MUMBC will also accept equivalent qualifications to the above such as the International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum IB score of 24.
(c) At least grade C or above in English at O-Level/SC; or grade B and above in General Paper (HSC); or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5.
(d) At least grade C or above in Mathematics at O-Level/SC or equivalent.
(e) Middlesex University welcomes applications from prospective students of all ages.
3 Application and final selection for both scholarships
3.1 Applying for the Inaugural LLM scholarships
All candidates meeting the selection criteria will be eligible to receive this award and should submit an application form for admission to the University duly filled in and accompanied by all the relevant documents for the chosen course to the Marketing Team. 3.2 Applying for the MUMBC 2013 Excellence Awards scholarships
To apply for the Excellence Award scholarship, candidates should submit the three documents outlined below in one application pack:
a) An application form for admission to the University duly filled in and accompanied by all the relevant documents for the chosen course to the Marketing Team. For more information on regular application process please click here.
b) An essay of 1,200 words (further details below).
c) An up to date curriculum vitae (no more than 2 A4 pages long).

3.2.1 Motivation essay of 1,200 words for the Excellence Awards
All candidates who meet the minimum requirements are required to submit an essay describing in not more than 1,200 words why they deserve an Excellence Award scholarship. Tell us about yourself, your future plans, why you have chosen to study at Middlesex University and why you merit a scholarship. The essay should be typed and submitted on A4 paper, using a font of at least 12 points but please observe the 1,200 word limit.
You may find the following statement useful as a starting point:
Tell us why you believe you deserve this scholarship and, using real examples and evidence from your experiences to date, convince us that you will use your Middlesex degree to innovate, influence and lead in your chosen career.
Your essay may also include and reflect the following values:
Innovation – Strive to constantly innovate, both in ways of thinking and doing things.
Learning – To promote a culture of discovery and pro-activeness in all undertakings.
Integrity – To endeavour to be ethically unyielding, honest and open and transparency is central in all that is done. All that is done should inspire trust and behaviours should match words (walk-the-talk).
Excellence – Passionately strive to do the best, meeting or exceeding expectations and not hesitate to walk the extra mile.
Diversity – Differences, as many, should blend and complement each other to make one stronger.
3.2.2 Final selection
A Scholarship Panel, consisting of the Campus Director, the Campus Administration manager, the relevant Programme Coordinator and/or Lecturer for the programme you have applied for and at least 1 other member of staff will then assess the submissions and select respective awardees per programme.
The decision of the Scholarship Panel will be final.
4 Details of scholarships
4.1 Scholarships available
There are 11 partial Excellence Award scholarships available for our current programmes, with a total value of Rs 1,087,000:
8 partial Undergraduate scholarships (each worth at least Rs 91,000):
· 1 x 50% scholarship for BA (Hons) Advertising, Public Relations and Media (Year 2 only)
· 1 x 50% scholarship for BA (Hons) International Business
· 1 x 50% scholarship for BA (Hons) Business Management (Year 2 only)
· 1 x 50% scholarship for BSc (Hons) Information Technology
· 1 x 50% scholarship for BSc (Hons) Information Technology and Business Information Systems (Year 2 only)
· 1 x 50% scholarship for BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance
· 1 x 50% scholarship for BSc (Hons) Psychology with Counselling Skills
· 1 x 50% scholarship for LLB (Hons) Bachelor of Law (worth Rs 110,000)
3 partial Postgraduate scholarships (each worth at least Rs 110,000):
· 1 x 50% scholarship for MSc Business Information Technology
· 1 x 50% scholarship for MSc Computer Networks
· 1 x 50% scholarship for LLM International Business Law (worth Rs 120,000)
Please note that the MUMBC 2013 Excellence Awards scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other Middlesex University discounts and/or awards.
4.2 Duration
All scholarships awarded are valid for the 2013/2014 academic year only.
